To toast the week in question, we wanted to highlight some of our top English picks:
- Waitrose Blueprint English White Wine 75cl £10 - this is a great value, award-winning English white wine. Blended by our buyer in partnership with Denbies wine estate in Dorking, Surrey. A delightful, aromatic and floral, crisp, dry white wine. Perfect to take along to a picnic or accompany a summer salad.
- Simpsons Pinot Noir Rose 75cl £12.50 (currently on offer from £15) - a dry, English rosé made from 100% Pinot Noir from the renowned Simpsons winery in Kent, that very closely rivals a Provence rosé. Delightful red berry and stone fruit flavours pair with crisp citrus for a mouthwatering finish. Great with grilled seafood, salads or antipasti.
- Waitrose Leckford Estate Brut 75cl £35 - This extremely elegant wine is made with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes meticulously tended on the Waitrose Leckford Estate, Hampshire. Waitrose Leckford products are now farmed in harmony with nature, using regenerative agriculture, helping to restore the health of our soils. We’re proud to say our vineyards were the first in the UK to achieve Regenified certification, a global leader in regenerative agriculture. This wine has rich aromas of toasted brioche and hazelnuts, which give way to a creamy finish on the palate, complemented with apple and peach flavours. The ultimate way to add glamour to a simple fish and chip tea! Currently selling in a limited edition 10 year anniversary bottle, to signify a decade since the first vintage was produced in 2015.
Emma Penman, Waitrose Wine Buyer for England and Wales said; “With nearly 100 English wines available in our stores, customers have more choice than ever when it comes to exploring and experimenting with English wines. We are very proud to have the biggest selection in the UK. Supporting British growers and producers is of the utmost importance to us across the food and drink we sell, and we will continue to champion the fantastic quality of wines made on our doorstep.”
