Whether it’s buying our pets presents, providing them with a Christmas dinner, their very own advent calendar or stocking, we are a renowned nation of ‘pet-parents’ - with Waitrose reporting a massive boom in seasonal spending on pets this Christmas.
Compared to this time last year, sales for Christmas pet lines are up 964%, and in the last 30 days, visits to the Mince Pies for Dogs page has seen an 241% rise, with searches on Waitrose.com for ‘dog christmas’ up 114% respectively in the last week. At John Lewis, sales of Christmas dog toys have increased 98% compared to this time last year, with the current bestseller the Petface Christmas Carrot Dog Toy.
Providing Christmas-themed dinners for your pets is also on trend. Compared to this time last year, sales at Waitrose for the Forthglade Lamb & Chicken Trays is up 343%; Lily's Kitchen Organic Chicken Supper up 183%; Forthglade Adult Sardines Complete Meal up 169% and Marleybones Lush Nosh Lamb Dog Food up 84% respectively, with people looking to buy hearty Christmas dinners for their pets.
In addition, Waitrose Christmas Meaty Strips for Dogs is up 34% and Good Boy Pawsley Dog Xmas Stocking is up 54% compared to this time last year.

This includes our first ‘Paw-some Mince Pies’, Christmas flavoured ‘Meaty Strips with Turkey & Sage’ for your food-legged friends, as well as ‘Chicken, Duck & Cranberries Cat Treats Crunchy Mix’. Waitrose have also launched a ‘Good Boy Reindeer Bobble Bal’, ‘Zoon Drink Dog Toy’ and ‘Zoon Christmas Character Dog Toy’.
