Oldest Waitrose in Britain gets a contemporary new look.

  • Waitrose Temple Fortune reopens after six week closure
  • Shop has gone through full refurbishment with a brand new layout for customers
  • Waitrose Temple Fortune first opened in 1945 and is the oldest Waitrose to trade in the same shop location.

Waitrose Temple Fortune has just reopened its doors after a six-week closure period following a full refurbishment bringing a modern look and feel to this much loved North London store.

The shop has gone through a significant transformation - customers will enjoy a new layout across the whole shop floor, including new refrigeration, an enhanced look and feel to the fruit and vegetable area and a relocated wine department The reopening also means that our local customers are once again able to shop quickly and conveniently with us via our partnerships with Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Chris Dey, Branch Manager at Waitrose Temple Fortune, said: “All the Partners here at Temple Fortune were really excited about the reopening of our shop. The shop itself is looking absolutely fantastic, and the customer feedback so far has been brilliant, with many saying that the shop feels so much brighter and bigger thanks to the new layout. We can’t wait to welcome many more customers back over the coming weeks.”

2024 marks 120 years of Waitrose, and our Temple Fortune shop, that originally opened in 1945,  is one of our oldest Waitrose shops to still be trading in the same shop location as when it first opened. Since the original opening, it has gone through a number of extensions and expansions to provide our customers with the best shopping experience and choice of products possible.
