Welcome Mother's Day at Waitrose

Easter is coming to Waitrose and we have an abundance of egg-citing new treats for 2024. Whether you’re looking for some indulgence in our No.1 Hidden Truffles Blonde Chocolate Easter Egg or irresistible bite-sized delights like our No.1 Speckled Birdbox Eggs, we have something for all the family to enjoy.

We believe that farmers and workers in our supply chain deserve to earn a fair price for their work, which is why we support Fairtrade, and have done since 1994, when we became one of the first retailers to stock Fairtrade products. This is why all of our Easter eggs are made using Fairtrade cocoa.

Cocoa farmer Egny Lea works at the Coobadi cooperative in Côte d'Ivoire that supplies Waitrose with cocoa for its own-label chocolate products. She says: “Fairtrade has changed my life because I am able to earn a lot. My dreams are to see my children finish their studies, be independent, but also be able to help and support me. The Fairtrade Premium brings a lot of good."

HOT OFF THE PRESS

Our development team's inspiration for our new No.1 Hot Honey Hatchlings £6.00 was taken from the popular 'swicy' (sweet and spicy) trend that's been taking the food scene by storm, and with searches on Waitrose.com for 'hot honey' up 215% last month we know that these treats will be a GOOD pick amongst our customers.

Made with No.1 single origin Dominican Republic 65% dark chocolate and filled with Mexican honey caramel spiced with a pinch of chilli. 

BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN

Searches for ‘blonde chocolate’ are up 210% on Waitrose.com over the last month, so our customers will be delighted to know that we have two blonde chocolate eggs this Easter!

Will Torrent, Waitrose Senior Development Chef, says: “Pistachio and blonde chocolate are really having a moment. We wanted to create something which encases both flavours as they work so well together, while also giving our customers an element of surprise. Our new No.1 The Cracking Pistachio Egg is inspired by pistachio nuts, with not one but two shells! It’s blonde on the outside and when cracked open reveals a pistachio shell inside. Grown-ups deserve some fun at Easter too and we think this will do just the trick.”

EVERY DAY IS SUNNY WITH SAM

Our popular friend Sunny Side Sam is back again for another ‘cracking’ Easter, and the new additions to our very cute collection make for the perfect Easter gift.

VEGAN EASTER EGGS

Being vegan or lactose-intolerant shouldn’t mean you have to miss out on sweet treats and with #Vegan having gained 222M views over the last 30 days on TikTok we know that our customers will be looking for these options at Easter.

This year we have added two delicious new ranges of dairy-free Easter chocolate eggs which are both exclusive to Waitrose. Cox & Co and Happi produce their amazing eggs using single origin Colombian cacao chocolate and their packaging is completely sustainable – it’s made from wood pulp, so it is also home compostable.
