- Waitrose Kings Road reopens 17th March after extensive refurbishment
- New look shop will feature full selection of service counters including sushi and dry-aged beef
- 48 new jobs created
Today, Waitrose Kings Road will once again open its doors to customers in the Chelsea area following an extensive refurbishment.*
We have improved the features customers already loved, such as our meat and fish counters and our wine department, and have also developed new areas for customers to enjoy while shopping with us, including a new cheese & deli counter and a dry-aged beef cabinet. Other services available in our refurbished shop include the mini sushi counter, self-serve hot chicken and a John Lewis section, allowing customers to buy a selection of John Lewis homeware items whilst doing their food shopping.

With the return of the counters, our customers will be able to enjoy lots of amazing counter-only offerings, as well as the discounts that are part of our myWaitrose scheme where customers can enjoy 20% off selected meat and fish counter products. In addition to great offers, myWaitrose users visiting our Kings Road shop can also now use our ‘ScanPayGo’ option through their Waitrose app on their phone - one of the simplest and fastest ways to shop with us in store.
As a result of the new and improved elements of the shop, 48 new jobs have been created to ensure that we always offer our customers the very best customer service when shopping with us. These roles will span across our counters, checkouts and shop replenishment and management.

In addition, we’ve also been able to bring back the tiled wall that is so well-loved by our local community. The tiles were initially installed in1999 by Reptile Tiles, with the design focused on the Chelsea area, meaning that the local buildings, including Peter Jones, and noteworthy people of the area at the time were depicted through the artwork.
Baiju Naik, Branch Manager at Waitrose Kings Road, said: “We’re really excited to welcome all our customers in store and for them to see our new look. We have made some fantastic improvements during the renovation, and we’re also thrilled to have some new offerings for customers such as our dry-aged beef cabinet and our cheese & deli counter.
“The refurbishment to our shop further demonstrates our commitment to offering our customers the best service and we’d like to thank customers for their patience while we undertook the work.”
