Waitrose customers are gearing up for this weekend’s sporting festivities, with a surge in sales of traditional Super Bowl and rugby snacks to get through the nail-biting games ahead. 

We’re predicting a ‘Nacho Sunday’ for all those night owls tuning in to watch the Chiefs take on the Eagles in the American annual playoff match, as sales of tortillas climb +11% year on year, as well grated cheese +9%, salsa +6% and crisps +8% versus last week.

  • Total Guinness sales +47% (last week)
  • Sales of lager +15%
  • Ready to drink +15%, with rum continuing to prove popular +119% and vodka +32%
  • Dips multipacks nearly +6% on the year, with creamy dips +6% and vegetable dips +9%
  • Frozen Pizzas are up +5%
