John Lewis to become the biggest employer of elves

John Lewis is set to have the biggest workforce of elves on the UK high street this year, after putting a call out for the finest and jolliest of Christmas assistants via recruitment network, LinkedIn. 

The new recruits will assist Santa, meeting thousands of customers in festive events at John Lewis stores across the country.

Naomi Gillies, Partner & Retail Director at John Lewis, said: “We are bringing a magical experience to our shops this Christmas. We’re looking for a team of Santa’s finest to help us delight customers at one of their key moments of the festive period.”

Meet Santa in store

From the 5th November we will be offering customers the chance to meet Santa and the elves in all of our John Lewis stores. 

Each child will meet Santa and receive a LEGO® Creator or LEGO DUPLO® gift. 

We are committed to making our experiences accessible to as many customers as possible and will be offering quiet sessions for those who need or prefer it.

We know that our customers love to have their pets with them at key family moments - so we'll be the first high street retailer to allow dogs to be photographed with Santa along with the rest of the family.

Santa's Grotto & The Magic Tree

What will you discover inside Santa’s magical wonderland? Come and plant a magic bean that turns into your very own mini Christmas tree that you can decorate. You can also take home a wonderful LEGO® Creator or LEGO DUPLO gift set and buy a photo taken with Santa.

John Lewis Partnership to recruit 10,000 temporary roles this festive season

Separately to the elf announcement, The John Lewis Partnership is also recruiting more than 10,000 temporary roles across the country to meet increased demand over Christmas. The 10,000 jobs comprises roles in our Waitrose and John Lewis shops as well as distribution network, to help customers get what they need to celebrate.
