Waitrose understands that grown-ups love Easter eggs every bit as much as kids - an insight that has inspired our new ‘adults-only’ campaign. The mischievous campaign is fronted by comedy superstar Mo Gilligan and showcases our range of chocolate eggs whilst playing an April Fool’s joke on chocolate-lovers everywhere.
The Waitrose Big Green Bunny, secretly powered by much-loved comedian, actor and food-lover, BAFTA Award-winning Mo Gilligan, is popping up at Battersea Power Station on 5th & 6th April. This follows a tease which went live on April Fool’s Day, announcing that we will no longer be selling Easter eggs to kids.

The activation at Battersea Power Station will see our Big Green Bunny taking over the area's vibrant, high-footfall public space, Malaysia Square. It’s here that the public can be in with the chance of winning some of our best-selling chocolate eggs, the catch - you need to prove you are grown-up enough to deserve one.
Mo Gilligan is pulling the strings in the Bunny Control Centre where, unbeknown to the public - he is the voice (and mind!) of the Big Green Bunny. He will be communicating with the unsuspecting public and decide if they are worthy of an Easter treat. Asking questions such as, ‘What time is your bedtime?’, ‘Do you like Brussels sprouts?’ and ‘Name three members of the Sidemen’. He will then push the Big Green Button to activate each egg being released - the power is in Mo’s hands, so answer wisely!
Mo Gilligan, said: “I am so excited to be working with Waitrose this Easter to bring a bit of joy and laughter, especially for the adults! We’ve all had that moment of not getting Easter eggs anymore because we’re ‘too old’ - who decided that?! I’m changing all that with the Waitrose team and bringing some fun as the sun shines down on Battersea Power Station”
Nathan Ansell, Chief Customer Officer at Waitrose, said: “The adults always end up missing out – whether it’s a chocolate egg at Easter or an advent calendar at Christmas. We wanted to have fun with this, to show that treats should have no age limit. Our Big Green Bunny gives the public an opportunity to try our wide selection of Easter eggs, with some laughs served alongside. We’re so excited to see all the mischief and fun Mo Gilligan gets up to in the bunny control center - we know the public are going to love it.”
