Tree-mendous charity favourite returns for shoppers this festive season.

Charity 'Giving Trees' are back in shops this Christmas. 

  • ‘Giving Trees’ are back in Waitrose and John Lewis shops this Christmas
  • Building on their success of last year, which saw £600,000 raised by customers for charities including Action for Children and Who Cares? Scotland
  • John Lewis Partnership generated over £1.1m in the last year for its Building Happier Futures programme

‘Giving Trees’ are back in all Waitrose and John Lewis shops this festive season, helping to raise donations for the John Lewis Partnership’s ‘Building Happier Futures’ programme - an ongoing commitment to giving people who have experienced care a better future.

Building on the success of last year, which saw £600,000 donated by generous customers, the initiative contributed towards the programme's target of £1.1million. 

While in-store, customers can shop and give back to the community at the same time by picking up a gift tag from the tree and taking it to the checkout, where they can directly donate the amount they’d like. 

The donation tags range from £2 to £25, and after you scan it with your shopping your donation is split between the Partnership’s Building Happier Futures charity partners - Action for Children, Who Cares? Scotland and Home-Start UK.

“Our ambition to build happier futures for Care Experienced people is at the very heart of our purpose. We’re so grateful that our thoughtful customers care as greatly about this as we do, helping to generate vital funds this Christmas to support young people’s lives for the better.”


Customers can also donate online, by visiting the John Lewis website, as well as while completing an online Waitrose shop by searching ‘donate’ on Waitrose.com - you’ll see that customers can also make a combined donation to The Trussell Trust and FareShare, using this method.
