John Lewis & Partners extends Click & Collect partnership with Co-op to provide customers with nearly 900 collection locations in the UK

Friday 17 July 2020

Today, 17th July, John Lewis has announced that its fast track, Click & Collect delivery and returns service will be available in over 500 Co-op food stores by the end of the summer, offering customers access to John Lewis products in more convenient locations.

The move will see the total number of John Lewis Partnership Click & Collect locations increase to nearly 900 - double the number of current Click & Collect locations in the UK. The extension of the service is part of the Partnership’s plans to invest in digital capabilities and collaborations which make the shopping experience even more convenient for customers; however and wherever they want to shop.

Andrew Murphy, Partner & Executive Director of Operations at the John Lewis Partnership said: “Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve seen a significant shift to online shopping and expect this trend to continue.  As a result, we are dedicated to providing more choice when it comes to how our customers receive their purchases, helping our customers shop how and when they want us.  This includes providing more locations for collection and returns for online shopping.

"The Partnership is always looking for ways to reach new customers and support local communities, by providing access to the amazing range of products we sell, through convenient locations.  Our customers love the ease and convenience Click & Collect provides which gives us the confidence to continue to invest in this area.  Building on our already successful partnership with the Co-op, this extension will allow us to offer our Click & Collect service to double the number of locations across the country; enabling us to reach more of our existing loyal customers while engaging with new ones too.”

Mark Matthews, Director of Innovation and Format, Co-op, said: “With our stores located at the heart of local communities, choice, ease and convenience is at the very core of our approach. We continue to look for new ways to innovate and expand access to products and services conveniently - by working together we can offer further flexibility and choice to meet consumer needs locally.”

The phased roll-out of the John Lewis & Partners Click & Collect service to additional Co-op food stores started in July and is expected to be complete during September 2020.  400 new Co-op stores are to be added to the 105 Co-op existing locations in which the service is already available.  Customers can also access John Lewis Click & Collect at all 50 John Lewis shops, 326 Waitrose branches and 12 Booths locations across the country.

About the John Lewis Partnership

The John Lewis Partnership owns and operates two of Britain's best-loved retail brands - John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners. Started as a radical idea nearly a century ago, the Partnership is the largest employee-owned business in the UK and amongst the largest in the world, with over 80,000 employees who are all Partners in the business. For all intents and purposes, the Partnership is a social enterprise; the profits made are reinvested into the business - for customers and Partners. John Lewis & Partners operates 50 shops plus one outlet across the UK as well as johnlewis.com. Waitrose & Partners has 337 shops in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands, including 61 convenience branches, and another 27 shops at Welcome Break locations. Waitrose & Partners exports products to more than 50 countries worldwide and has nine shops which operate under licence in the Middle East. The retailer's omnichannel business includes the online grocery service, Waitrose.com, as well as specialist online shops including waitrosecellar.com for wine and waitroseflorist.com for plants and flowers. Our food business is bigger than our non-food business and our John Lewis shop sales represent less than a quarter of the Partnership’s total revenue.
