'Sales for the week excluding fuel were down 0.9% compared to the same week last year.

Rosé wine sales increased last week - perhaps encouraged by the unseasonably warm weather towards the weekend - and low alcohol options also saw strong sales.

This year's Halloween range is launching in shops this week with pumpkins arriving in store from today.'

'Total sales were down 12.4% on the same week last year due to warmer weather impacting sales of new season products.

Fashion sales were down 12.3%, however Beauty sales were up 0.7% as we price matched a competitor’s promotion.

Electrical and Home Technology sales were down 11.4%, but demand for new Communications Technology product launches picked up over the weekend.

Home sales were down 13.4%. However, our own brand House range continues to perform well as customers enjoyed shopping for Off to University items.  '
