'Sales were distorted by challenging comparisons against the same week last year when sales were higher due to Britain recovering from the Beast from the East and the run up to Mothering Sunday, which fell on the 11 March.
These factors meant that total sales excluding fuel were down 8.8%. Our vegetarian and vegan ranges continue to perform well with sales up 57%.
Appetisers were up 15%, deli sales were up up 14% and olive and antipasti sales were up 15%. Speciality beer was up 22%, rums were up by more than 14% and malt whisky sales increased by more than 10%. '
