In his job developing the Waitrose brand and new products, food expert Graham Cassie has worked with everyone from Heston Blumenthal to Prince Charles. He's developed his own talents in the kitchen but he admits his skills lie in tasting, rather than cooking, food.

Highlight

The Waitrose Cookery School in north London aims to get the nation cooking. So what's on offer? A range of full and half-day courses for cooks of all abilities, covering international as well as British cuisine. Prices range from £45 to £175, with all ingredients included.

The school's 12-strong team of Partners is led by Course Manager Gordon McDermott, whose 16-year career has included a four-year stint as Head Chef Teacher at Rick Stein's Cookery School in Padstow, Cornwall, where he taught more than 16,600 people.

'We have some of the best equipment in the industry,' he says. The team are all very talented, have brought different specialist skills, and they can all teach, too.'
