Our progress and reports

Measuring our progress qualitatively and quantitatively is vital to making sure we are meeting our CSR objectives.

Our approach involves:

setting ambitious performance commitments and targets;
demonstrating our performance;
honestly and openly reporting our CSR activity; and
benchmarking our performance.

To assess the quality of our CSR management we participate in benchmarks such as Business in the Community's (BITC) Corporate Responsibility (CR) Index, the UK's leading benchmark of responsible business practice. In 2012, we maintained our leadership position by retaining our Platinum status.

We also received a Big Tick award in BITC's 2011 National Awards for Excellence for John Lewis' Horizons programme; John Lewis Newcastle also acheived a Big Tick for its work on fulfilling potential in the Skills in the Workplace category.
