Making our own textiles

John Lewis has one production unit, Herbert Parkinson, in Lancashire, where we make our own-brand furnishings, fabrics and curtains.

Herbert Parkinson makes John Lewis's own-brand duvets, pillows, furnishing fabrics and ready-made curtains, and provides our seven-day and made-to-measure curtain services.

There is also a small on-site fabric weaving operation to create exclusive designs for John Lewis.

Founded in 1934, Herbert Parkinson became part of the John Lewis Partnership in 1953, when we were looking for a mill to produce our own fabric designs.

Read more about the Partners who work there and what they do in the JLP e-zine article Material world. You can view photos from around the factory on the Material world image gallery.
