The first new flexible format shop will open in Exeter city centre during 2012 and will highlight Fashion, Home and Consumer Electronics.

New department stores are planned for Birmingham, Leeds, Oxford and Portsmouth. The first John Lewis store outside the UK will open in Dublin and we are committed to opening our first shop in Sprucefield, Northern Ireland at the earliest opportunity.

An at home shop will open in Chelmsford in 2013. There are also plans to open an at home shop in Ashford, Kent by autumn 2012, subject to planning permission. The 'at home' format focuses exclusively on the home sector including home and electrical and home technology assortments, and with no fashion assortment. 

A new flexible format has been announced with shops averaging 65,000 to 100,000 square feet highlighting Fashion, Home and Consumer Electronics products. The new concept model will sit between the full size department stores and the 'at home' shops. The first will open in Exeter city centre in 2012 with a further shop planned for York in 2013.

In addition to these developments we expect there to be further opportunities for additional department stores and will look for growth through our multi-channel strategy, particularly johnlewis.com.

John Lewis Dublin
John Lewis has announced plans to open its first new shop outside the United Kingdom in the Republic of Ireland. The store will anchor the proposed Dublin Central development on O'Connell Street. John Lewis Exeter

Subject to planning permission, we will open our first shop in Northern Ireland in Sprucefield.
