ACCESSKEY functionality

This website includes ACCESSKEY functionality. These keys can be used to navigate the website quickly and easily. To use this functionality, hold down Alt, then press the corresponding number/letter and then press return.

  • ALT + M + ENTER will take you to the top of the main content panel
  • ALT + S + ENTER will take you to the site map 
  • ALT + L + ENTER will take you to the local navigation
  • ALT + N + ENTER will take you back to the main navigation.

Screen reader/voice browser/screen magnifier users

The navigation mechanisms on this website are accessible by screen readers and voice browsers. In addition, skip links allow you to skip the menus and jump directly to the main content of the page.

Text equivalents of all images have been provided and the relevent page and table header tags inserted. Text only versions are available for functionality created in Flash and which is used on the following pages: Home page Our history.

Changing the font size

Use the font size selector at the bottom of pages to change the font size.

To do this, select the plus or minus sign.

Changing the style sheet

You can change the colour of the text and background by importing your own style sheet into the website.

In Internet Explorer:

  1. Select Tools > Internet Options > Accessibility.
  2. Click on any or all of the three checkboxes to ignore colours, font styles or font sizes.

or

  1. Change the style sheet by clicking on the 'Format document using my style sheet'.
  2. Browse to your preferred style sheet.
  3. Select OK.

In Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Select Tools > Options > Fonts and Colours.

Keyboard only users

The pages and forms on this website can be used with keyboard-only operation. The keys to use are as follows:

  • To select from dropdown boxes, use up and down arrow keys.
  • To select/unselect a check box, use the space bar.
  • To move forward between links, use the tab key.
  • To move back between links, use the Shift + tab keys.
  • To initiate an action button, use the Enter key when the action button is selected.

Screen resolutions

This website is optomised for 1024 x 768, it resizes in 800 x 600 once you refresh the page.  However, you will need javascript enabled for the resize to take effect.
